Pregnant women are beautiful?

The Jentle Childbirth Foundation (JCF) is proud to be associated with these four spellbinding portraits of pregnant women by photographer Joth Shakerley from his book Pregnant Women.  Midwife Jenny Smith’s view is that “his photographs capture the “pureness of birth” which links so beautifully to “with woman” which is the essence of the role of being a midwife.”

JCF became involved with Joth when Jenny received an invitation from him for his book launch and, says Jenny, “there was a connection - Jentle is about nurturing birth and the simplicity of the nakedness in these four photographs with the elements of sky, sea and grassland links perfectly with our connections in life to nature and nurture”.

JCF hopes that the posters will raise awareness of its philosophy and aims and send a message to the general public that we must nurture our babies in the womb preparing ourselves and our babies for the most positive entrance into the world.  As Jenny says, “it is about re-thinking the way we live in terms of lifestyle and well-being and valuing our most precious heritage, our children.”
